Post-Purchase Counseling

Post-Purchase education and counseling is a vital part of the new home buyer education process because it supports successful long-term self-sufficiency.  Counseling is essential to homeowners who may be adjusting to the new lifestyle and our post-purchase counseling focuses on the physical aspects of keeping on top of maintenance, energy-effective measures, financing home improvements, refinancing options, money management and foreclosure prevention.  Another component of our Post Purchase Program involves instructing new homeowners how to avoid predatory lenders and other financial scams.  The focus of post-purchase home buyer programs is sustaining homeownership and to avoid mortgage default.  With this in mind, programs are designed to teach new homeowners responsibilities of building savings plans and more prepared for dealing with unforeseen events.  CHC’s financial education workshops can help families become more aware of common pitfalls and learn the financial management and planning skills needed to sustain homeownership.
