Community Homeownership Center Inc. (CHC) is a well-known and established non-profit 501(c) 3 organization that provide comprehensive housing counseling, training, advocacy, technical assistance and housing opportunities for low and moderate-income homebuyers, homeowners, and rental tenants; to help them achieve successful living in healthy, safe and affordable homes. CHC’s primary goal is to educate the public in the advantage of seeking early housing counseling intervention assistance, by empowering the consumer with the necessary housing counseling tools necessary to prevent homelessness. CHC’s overall purpose is to increase financial literacy awareness, and sustainable homeownership. Our program engages Education and Counseling which offers a wide range of services designed to foster self-sufficiency and help people find and keep housing that meets their needs and social development of homes, neighborhoods and communities.

Housing Counseling

Community Homeownership Center, Inc. (CHC) is an adopter of the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Counseling and Education. It is our belief that housing programs must be integrated closely with other programs that address the needs of all residents and their communities, including economic development, human services and education programs. All residents should have access to decent, affordable housing in a safe living environment.

CHC is committed to helping people regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status and disability and our role is to provide consumers access to information, resources, and tools that help them achieve their housing goals. We provide counseling in the following areas: pre-purchase, post-purchase, rental, budget, homeless, default/delinquency. Our counselors understand that everyone will require a different course of action and will help you prepare an assessment of your financial situation to determine the root cause of the problem. Once the problem is identified they will work with you to establish the best possible solution. It is with these services that enable families and individuals to function as committed and productive members of the community, capable of stabilizing and maintaining their neighborhood(s) to ensure a quality environment in which to live and raise a family.
